Guess the Word: Seventh Grade History
The following word is from the Word Wall: globalization

Instructions:

Activity

Wheel of Fortune: Eighth Grade Technology
The following words were taken from the Word Wall: diversification and justification

Instructions:

The teacher will draw lines on the board or overhead for each letter in the words and students will guess vowels or consonants. The correct letters will be written on the lines and incorrect letters will be listed in the used letter box. All letters must be guessed before a student can say each word. Once the words are revealed, students will use their iPods, laptops, etc. to look up the definition of the words by using a well-known dictionary, for instance, Merriam Webster’s. This activity can be done in the school’s computer lab so that all students can have access to technology. When students locate the definitions, they will write them on a sheet of paper and will discuss the definitions with the teacher. (Note: each word will be completed as a separate game).

With this vocabulary activity, students will:

· Select letters to make a word

· Focus on the word’s vowels and consonants

· Formulate the word in their minds and then state what the word is

The above activities are credited to Professor Balgobin’s Instructor’s Guidance.

Math-0: Third Grade Math
Instructions:

The teacher will write the following word and definition on the whiteboard/chalkboard along with a few examples of: estimating. This game is a variation of Bingo. Children will be given a copy of an empty Bingo grid. Students will be given grids that contain numbers except for the free space. Children will be instructed to round to the nearest tens. The teacher will hold up a rounded number and students will look on their grid and write the number next to the whole number. The first student who has a regular Bingo (e. g. up/down or across) will yell Math-0. A small gift will be given to the student.

With this vocabulary activity, students will:
· Recall the definition

· Compute the answer

· Defend their findings

The above vocabulary activities will “help students establish a conceptual base of understanding – an underlying knowledge of subject matter – with which to expand vocabulary knowledge” (Richardson et al, 2012, p. 177).
